Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

The park was in an absolute mess yesterday. Syringes in the bushes and litter everywhere.
I have put through a complaint to Haringey council. Hoping they take action and keep it cleaner.
Has anyone else noticed the state of it recently?

Fantastic.  I will PM you and be in touch.  Dates are always posted on HoL as well - so anyone else who would like to come along please do - everyone is welcome.  We also have a FoFP group on HoL: http://www.harringayonline.com/group/friendsoffairlandpark

Not sure if an existing member needs to invite or whether you can invite yourself but will have a play and see what happens.

Look forward to meeting you soon, Anna

Dear Alice and Danni (and everyone)

Just wanted to let you know the next Friends of Fairland Park meeting is going to be on Tuesday 19th July at 8pm in the park.  If its raining it will be held in the Salisbury Pub.

Please do come along - everyone is welcome.

Look forward to meeting you then, Anna

Hi Anna,

Thanks for this - I will be there.

It would be great to get some regular community litterpicks arranged in the park to help make it safer and cleaner - if anyone is interested let me know.

Best,

Sarah

I have reported street rubbish in the last couple of weeks to the council on Beresford Road.  I have never seen it so bad.  Not sure why it's particular bad at the moment, unfortunately you can't stop people from littering which is also a major issue on Green Lanes.

Christopher, I wonder if Veolia has gone into meltdown or just doesn't give a damn, maybe because there are no council staff left to monitor the contract. Came back from The Netherlands recently where we didn't see a single piece of street rubbish in 5 days, came out of Turnpike Lane tube and turned into Willoughby Rd ... disgusting mess everywhere, truely appalling ...

Hi, yes it has definitely got noticeably worse and it's a major concern if there are now sharps in the park where small children play all the time. I think you can go direct to Veolia instead of going via the council.

It took me 7 months and a formal complaint to Haringey Council before we had a medical sharps box collected as the pharmacies no longer take them.  I can't imagine an addict would have the energy to do this as I almost considered dumping it myself.
