Pretty outrageous this, privatisation of the Land Registry will make access to the information on property and land ownership a commercial transaction with fees that will discourage the average citizen. Agreed hideous idea. Thanks for raising this, used to be £80 for a search in mid 90's.
We wanted to prove the Dean of our college was lying about the lease running out, even though it still had a hundred years. I think it's a HM Hennes now.

Surely this will create a private monopoly that can charge what it wants? Unless the government also creates a new regulator-quango.....
