Not that I have anything against bookies

I would hope that Mr. Lammy does have something against bookies insofar as Fixed Odds Betting Terminals are concerned. I hope that it was just a slip of the tongue. I have heard Mr. Lammy speak publicly about this.

"Regeneration" sounds great, but it's apparent that it will involve businesses dislocated, if not destroyed and many houses destroyed. Small and medium sized businesses appear not to matter as much as big business. Meanwhile, with such ruthless focus on Tottenham Regeneration, many basic services throughout our Borough suffer.

I watched the programme on iPlayer.

I welcome Mr. Lammy's support for Finsbury Park as a public park (our park is in Mr. Lammy's Tottenham constituency) and I was pleased he took the trouble to survey it on the last day of the Live Nation occupation in the summer.

matt - I thought many of the people demonstrated hugely positive aspects of Tottenham. The mum with the disabled son was humblingly strong and an inspiration. I hope she and her family gets the support they need.

What would be nice the positive aspects you'd have liked to see?

Yes l'd agree with the example you mention. I'd have liked to have seen a lot more of what many other groups, including charities, are doing within the area Jacq.

Wasn't impressed with Lammy, the way he dismissed the concerns of the businessman and the man with parking problems was appalling.
So very, very disappointed that our MP chose to showcase our area in this way. No, this wasn't Tottenham this was a promotional broadcast in behalf of David Lammy. Any MP's surgeriy will of course be used by local people in most need, at times of great difficulty, and that's all we heard about in this film. Tottenham is also a place where the people came out in the streets to clean up after the riots. It's a place where the community has worked together to generate a vibrant meeting place in the beautiful Lordship Rec. It's a place which has two local choirs, regular art classes, a community pub with buzzing live music, supper clubs, Quiz nights. It's a place where the local schools are improving rapidly and the NHS services are fantastic. I live in a street where people know each other, care about and help each other. I live in a place where the vast majority are friendly and polite in the street. No David Lammy this wasn't Tottenham, this was the worst of Tottenham. I am sad that you painted this bleak and horrible picture about our home on national TV. So much more to say, I just don't understand why you did it. (PS David, stand up when people come into your surgery instead of lolling back in your seat and offering a hand without eye contact over your shoulder. And support your long-suffering local police chief).

Yes it was 'This is David Lammy's surgery'. It was reviewed in all the papers with only The Telegraph more positive. Lammy wrote in the Standard as to why he allowed the cameras in...to show the real work of MPs and real lives of constituents down on their luck he said.

The programme was highlighted by Kim Shillington controller of BBC 2 & 4 back in July as part of raft of new documentaries,  shot, produced & directed by Claire John's.
