Just got my BT bill and discovered that I am being charged for BT Sport. Not the 'full' amount, as BT gives us a 'discount'. Now that discount is being removed a bit at a time. It is not possible to cancel the default sports service online. I have been waiting 20 minutes and then the customer service says I have to speak to Billing to get my payment refunded. I regard this as a total scam. Already wasted 25minutes, now they will call me back tomorrow! Last time I had to freaking well WRITE a smailmail letter to this telecoms giant as I couldn't get a reply from an email or a satisfactory response by phone. Rant over. Maybe Jeremy will fix it for me...

Well would you expect a nationalised communications company to pull crap like that? They'll pull other crap but not that.
Thank you for posting this, it reminded me to check our bill and the same was true for ours.
I went through the online chat "service" - they said the same thing that it's not possible to cancel the service online. However when I pressed the online agent, they were able to "downgrade" us to BT Sport Lite which is a free service (that I don't want), AND promised a refund on the next bill. They emailed me a copy of the chat transcript in case the refund doesn't come through, I also took screenshots in case they fail to do this as well.
At least I didn't have to sit on the phone waiting - wait time for a "chat" agent was about 7 minutes.
yes same here, but the promised phone call today did not materialise....
The reason behind this is that BT Sport now shows all the Champions League matches. I did receive both email and mail notification of this, but agree it's a bit rubbish of them to make it opt-out instead of opt-in.
