CleanupUK's Beautiful Boroughs Project for Haringey was successfully launched at Fairland Park Yesterday:
CleanupUk is a charity dedicated to tackling the problem of litter and fly tipping across the country. The Beautiful Boroughs Project helps people in London work together to make their local area free from litter, safer and nicer to live in.
The event was attended by local residents & families concerned about litter in their neighbourhood. Also in attendance were Ian Sygrave - Chair of the Ladder Community Safety Partnership and Sian Hansen - Patron of CleanupUK and Executive Director of the Legatum Institute.
Over 30 people attended the event. Cakes and cold drinks were enjoyed after the litter-picking creating a party spirit.
Local children were amongst the most enthusiastic litter pickers. At the end of the event 15 bags of rubbish, a flat screen television, a wallet, passport & driving licence were collected.
Litter-picker Dylan Feltham (age 5) said: “Cleaning-up the park makes you feel proud because you have done something good!”
Sarah Hayes, Senior Project Coordinator for the Beautiful Boroughs project said: “ Everyone joined in – it really was a great atmosphere! The group have set a brilliant example that we hope others in Haringey will soon follow!”
If you live in Haringey and would like to be involved in a clean-up event in your area please contact Sarah Hayes on 07469 660 842 or email sarah.hayes@cleanupuk.org.uk

Thanks,
I didn't realise it was happening. I would have joined you.
The park had been left in a horrible state after a recent birthday party. Loom bands carpetting it all over, etc.
If anyone else has an area in which they would like to get a clean-up group going please do let me know!
