I would really like this (I've got so many double stacked shelves!) but I haven't been to IKEA to buy one as I don't think I can get the 2 metre uprights in my small car. But as you've just posted this I'm going to go and measure again!

The trick, if it's going to work at all, is to tilt the passenger seat right back, and slide it into the passenger footwell. (You do need a rear-opening car.) I proudly boast of having once got an eight foot wardrobe home. If you take off the wrapping it can make it possible.

Or stick it out the window...
