Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

We live in Burgoyne Road and have just discovered that Virgin Media, to whom we defected from BT last month have randomly assigned us a new phone number.  It's not the original phone number that we were given when we joined, nor the number we transferred from BT - just a random number!  Has anyone else experienced a similar level of service from Virgin?  They say they'll restore in 24 hours - hope no-one wants to phone me...

Alison, a response to you from Virgin via Twitter:

Cheers Hugh

Yes, exactly the same thing happened to us. We got a new number when we switched over to virgin, then a few months later our phone stopped receiving incoming calls, when the problem was fixed, we realised we had a new number. No explanation from virgin, didn't get the old number back either!

Who did they give the number to?
No joy so far; next best estimate is Monday morning and I had to make several calls to get that far. Nice fellow thinks it will require a man to switch some plugs in the road. Technical hitch would be one phrase for it, others spring to mind...

Don't know who they gave the number to. They said something similar to us Alison, hopefully yours gets sorted.

I have now been without the use of my home phone since last week. When I spoke to Virgin to complain they told me there was a problem in the area and it would be fixed by Friday morning. It's Saturday now and my phone is still dead!!! I have to wait until Monday to get an engineer to come round and look at it. At least I have use of my mobile. I hate to think about some elderly/vulnerable person trapped at home who depends on their phone for contact! I am going to leave them when my contract ends!

I am pleased to share that Virgin Media have restored our phone number!
