Can I recommend White Hart Lane car boot market(held at Haringey Football Ground opposite Selco) market is all weekend but Sunday is the main day. I got a great second hand rotary lawn mower for £20(needed a new blade but retails at £120!) There are always lawn mowers for sale and all manner of power tools.

Try Bright Sparks on Seven Sisters Rd, between Hornsey rd and Durham Rd. It@s an electrical recycling project and everything sold has been repaired and P A T tested. Think you can get full details on Islington Council website, but roughly normal shop hours.
