Harringay online

Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I was wondering if anyone had any experience of applying to the council for a parking permit for a car share arrangement. I share a car with some other family members (living outside the borough) and have it for about half the week. I am detailed on the insurance but am not the registered owner. Every time I try to broach the subject of a residents parking permit with the council, I get the same standard email back, seemingly unconnected to the email or application form I send them.

Has anyone successfully applied for a permit for a car that isn't registered to their address in the CPZ? I was hoping that Haringey with their commitment to reducing carbon emissions and cheaper permits for more environmentally friendly cars might be amenable to a car sharing arrangement. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Yes I did - I got a letter from the registered owner stating that I was to have use of it etc etc. I also produced a valid insurance certificate to show I was insured. I had to do it in person and explain the situation but got it in the end. Good luck!
Thanks Kris - that's very encouraging. Where did you go? I have taken the same documentation to the customer service centre in Wood Green, but was told they couldn't authorise it there and I would have to do it online, which just gets a standard response about insufficient documentation and a list of what's required.
We did it at the centre as you suggested. Sorry I can't be of more help!
Last question! Was it recently? I do get the feeling it just depends who you deal with on the day.
No problem and I agree with you. They also have Managers so ask to speak to them if the answer isn't satisfactory.

It was about a year ago. But we have just sold our car and we are getting a new one in July so will be having a similar discussion with them then!

Let us know how you get on!
Will do - thanks for all your help.

Echo that. I have had problems dealing with them in the past. Some of the staff are not well trained so you have to persevere at times until you find the smart one!
