Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Engage with your councillors at their surgeries, and attend local meetings where you can.

Councillors are there to help, they represent you, it keeps them engaged with the issues on the ground, which they may have to make a decision on, (like St Ann's Hospital.) it's our front line.

Having recently emerged from the campaign against the Council's proposed (now actual) cuts to social care, I am not so sure.  What you say is a good rehearsal of the theory of local government, but does not tally with my experience of the practice.

I am going to take a lot of convincing to "engage" at any level of politics, and I am someone who was brought up to respect my right to vote, it being hard won by the efforts of many brave women and men.

That's disappointing, this should be the first level of eguagement to address a real concern that will affect many people across the borough.

Thank you for raising this further, we need more people to come forward, be active, and scrutinise plans being proposed for all our services.

Continue to make your concerns known to our councillors, and to residents.

What areas are being cut in social care, and what was your experience, is there a closed rank on decisions affecting local services?

What has happened to government initiatives designed to address real needs, and with support be adopted by council?
