Hello,
Don't get me wrong i shop locally all the time but what is everyones obsession with local shops?
I dont understand everyone seems to be so for these local shops - don't get me wrong its not that i dislike them but just don't understand everyones obsession with them!
If i go into a costa coffee i can order as much or as little as i like without feeling uncomfortable e.g just a coffee but in a local shop you are expected to order more or they get funny!
when i go into a local shop i usually feel very uncomfortable - they stare at you as there is usually few people in the shop.
chains and large shops are better regulated and you do not get ripped off.
can someone enlighten me?

It used to be "illegal" to be gay. Can you just bring some f'ing morals to this rather than just rely on the government of the day?
So you think all those millions who claimed income-tax relief on their mortgages were immoral ?
In response to Pamish argument...
At the end of the day if a shop pays there tax or not does not effect me one bit at all in my decision to shop with them or not. I simply look at the product and the price.
Yes i totally agree that all shops should pay the correct tax and the larger chains should not engineer their activities to minimise tax but in my opinion its just one of those things which is not fair in life and done in such a way that the chain will not get in trouble.
However, what really robs the exchequer is ........people who don't insist on paying VAT where relevant particularly to builders and handymen and people who pay their cleaners cash in hand.
Great point Osbawn. It's easy to point fingers and many do, forgetting that they often don't pay their taxes either..
In Sainsbury - 500g cornflakes £1.00: my local shop 500g cornflakes £2.29.
Nuff said !
