Hi there Harringay Online!
This is Ebony and Paul Harding, Harringay residents since 2007.
We thought it was time to share some details with you about our new venture on Green Lanes. If you are regulars at Blend Cafe you may have noticed some work ongoing 2 doors down at 581C, the old internet cafe. We have been busy these past months readying the site so that by Christmas we can open Harringay's newest specialist grocery store.
We will be stocking fresh organic produce sourced predominantly from British farms, free range British meat, dairy, fish, some vegan and vegetarian food and artisan bread from local bakeries as well as loads of other healthy and top notch delicious goods.
Alongside all this amazing food, we will have a wide range of wine including many organic and biodynamic varieties and an expansive range of local London/UK craft beers and ciders.
We are both big music lovers so we also plan to stock a small range of new and second hand vinyl records and cds.
Please bear with us while the renovations are ongoing, we can't wait to open the doors and hope you will be as excited as we are about the Harringay Local Store.
If anyone has any favourite items they'd like us to carry, feel free to mention them in this thread. All suggestions are most welcome!
See you soon,
Ebony and Paul

Very excited about this new store right on my doorstep - I wonder when you'll be opening??
Just wanted to draw your attention to quite possibly the most delicious crisp I have ever tasted: http://patatastorres.com/eng/patatas-selecta-trufa-negra.html
Not exactly healthy but I would be so excited to be able to buy them on Green Lanes!

Hi Everyone :)
Well we have finally set a date! Monday 12th January we will be open from 8am-8pm. These are our opening times for kick off, but we may amend these at some point in the future if it doesn't make sense to be open this early/late.
It's been a real cracker of a year, the last few months have been very challenging and we can't wait to finally reap the rewards and enjoy our shop with you all. There is still a little bit of fitout being done, but the store is looking pretty neat right now and we have food ready to go on the shelves!
I will update the thread again just before we open to let you know what treats to expect on Monday, but in the meantime we want to thank everyone for their patience and kind words by giving Harringay Onliners a 10% discount on opening day in the store. Just mention this thread and our offer.
Looking forward to meeting many of you very soon!

Congrats guys. Best of luck for the opening. Will try and pop in on the day.
Bit of a long-shot but is there any chance you might stock frozen sashimi-grade fish?!
I've a feeling it would sell like hot-cakes. It's available in this form in the US but I've never managed to find frozen (i.e. super-freezed to kill parasites and then brought up to regular freezer temperature) in London. Fresh sashimi-grade is available at a handful of places (e.g Atari-Ya, Angel fishmongers) but it is sold with an extremely high mark-up.
Thanks for the tip- haven't tried there. Which restaurant are you at out of interest? Obha Leaf?
Hello Harringay Online!
Apologies for not checking in sooner, we have been run off our feet since opening the doors on the 12th of January.
The first couple of weeks have been overwhelmingly positive and we've enjoyed meeting some of you in person. Thank you so much for your support.
We've extended the beer selection a little since we first opened and now have a good range from breweries such as Crate, Beavertown, Redemption, Redchurch, Kernel and Camden Brewery to name a few. Will be featuring a new brewery from tomorrow (The Park Brewery from Kingston upon Thames) and the list will keep growing.
Our selection of natural wines has been very popular which is great to see. We are adding more lines and planning some tasting nights in the near future.
We receive a daily bread delivery of specialty sour dough loaves. During the week the bread comes from Celtic Bakers and on the weekend we order additional loaves from Seven Seeded Bakery.
We've got brownies from Batch Bakery every day. On Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday we have freshly baked pies from Marikas Kitchen. Over the coming weeks we hope to have a wider selection of treats such as sausage rolls, scotch eggs and pastries. We also plan to stock more artisan cheese (Wildes is already in store) and charcuterie.
For those of you into collecting music, Paul has slowly been expanding our vinyl section. There is a bit of new rock, post hardcore (his favourite), some used classic rock, some used 2 step garage classics, used dnb and breaks and a few cuts from local electronic/drum and bass label Exit Records.
We're also still keen to know if theres anything you'd like to see on the shelves. They're fairly bustling at the moment but we somehow manage to find room for more.
Look out for regular updates about what we have in store on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook www.twitter.com/harringaylocal www.instagram.com/harringaylocal www.facebook.com/harringaylocal
Thanks!
Ebony and Paul
We've very much enjoyed the beers and wine, and my wife was besides herself with joy when she managed to bag some Cavolo Nero, the other day. Now, if you could somehow find some space to stock a few blank, arty greetings cards, I'd never have to visit Crouch End again (not that there's anything wrong with Crouch End).
Keep up the excellent work - it's great having you in the area.
