Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

When is the Vietnamese place next to the Salisbury opening?

What's stopping them?

Their 1st planning application was rejected following objections from the residents above the shop. They have taken a lease on the place however, so they need to resubmit. They've been advised to employ the services of a professional to help them find and present their solution to the residents' concerns.

There are good and bad ways to duct out cooking smells and grease.
I was bored with kebab meat by the time the 90's came along. Posh kebab shop or not, it's all the same. Cheap grilled meat with salad and bread.

Sooooo Boring.

Viva Vietnam.

Yes agreed! Would welcome a new addition to the area that isn't Turkish! Really hoping it opens soon!

While I really enjoy Hala's chicken stews a bit of variety wd b welcome..

With a following wind we could have both Vietnamese and Indian on the Lanes by the Summer

what a pity Osbawn feels obliged to make derogatory remarks about Turkish food    nobody is going to MAKE him eat Turkish or any other food    we're lucky that Green Lanes provides such a range of choice    if he or anybody else wants to taste the best Turkish food excellent recipes and articles are to be found in the Saqi publication Turkish Cookery written by British and Turkish celebrities to raise money for further education of children whose parents were killed in the last earthquake.

I hardly thought Osbawn's comments were derogatory! Not everyone likes Turkish food. And I for one am all in favour of more of a mix of restaurants in this area

I have lived in this area for 18 years, when I first moved to Haringey there was an Italian Deli, two Indian restaurants and Mariella's restaurant and bar, and a few more Greek shops and bakeries. Over the years there has been an increase in Turkish restaurants, I don't have a problem with this but it would be nice to have a little more variety as they do tend to have very similar menu's. I would love to have a Vietnamese restaurant on my doorstep. I hope it's sorted soon!

absolutely agree that variety is the spice of life   there is far less choice here in Crouch End than when I moved here 20 years ago   my gout restricts my activities and it would be nice to have good food nearby and available at lunchtime   of the 3 good French restaurants, 1 closed, 1 is never open for lunch and the third is not open Mon-Thurs for lunch   I love eating but am a lousy cook!

The premises have an A1 (shop) not A3 (restaurant) designation. The building layout (different to all the existing restaurant premises on Grand Parade) is not suitable for a restaurant because of the impact it would have on the immediate residents.

The residents' bedrooms above (12 in total) gain their light and air from the lightwell that was heavily compromised by the change-of-use proposal (additional noise, smells, loss of daylight).

Hopefully Hanoi Pho, or similar, will open up in a restaurant premises.

it's unwanted bread and salad and unhappy dead animals for good while yet for you lot then.
