I have seen quite a few white vans being loaded with tenants' possessions this week.
I am amazed how many times I see tenants moved on after only six months to avoid giving them statutory rights.
It is about time the law was changed so people have longer rental rights.

I think you're trolling. Tenants get twelve months before they're moved on. Twelve whole months!
John - I am 100% sure in this area flat lets are generally six months. They are called Short Term Assured Lets. If you look on the web these are advertised by Foxton's, Hamptons and Right Move who say they offer flexibility (while looking for another tenant) and higher rents. We all know London is short of fair rent property and this what happens while that is the case.
One foreign couple working in London moved in to flat opposite me last July. In the first month they spent quite a lot on it. I wondered why because I know the owner and that they change the tenants every six months. Yesterday, I saw them move out. I now know a Landlord has twenty eight days after the let starts to produce a written agreement.
Today, I saw another young woman moving out of another flat above the shops on Park Road. I stopped to talk to her and the van driver. Guess what ? Same deal another six month tenancy.
BTW, there is lot of challenging comments and flaming going on today - has someone put something in the water?
