Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Can anyone recommend somewhere localish to take my sewing machine for a service and possibly repair?

Has anyone tried the shop on Green Lanes, or is it just for commercial machines?

My sewing machine is a Brother.

Hello, I did try the shop on Green Lanes a couple of years ago and I'm afraid it wasn't successful (and it was quite expensive). You could ask the women at Sew Over It (they're opening in Islington mid-November). Check out their website www.sewoverit.co.uk

They're really helpful.

There's a great sewing machine repair shop in Tufnell Park if you can get the machine there.http://www.tonyssewingcentre-london.co.uk/

I always use the place on Fonthill Rd Finsbury Park for mine and would highly recommend them, I have previously used the one Maddy suggests and they are good too. There's also a lady in Walthamstow who repairs machines at home http://www.cheekyhandmades.co.uk/

I haven't had a machine fixed by her but I've been to one of her classes and she was a very nice lady.

If you are stuck for a machine while you get yours fixed I can lend you one of mine.
This is great, many thanks. Is will try Fonthill Rd first as it is so easy to get there by public transport.

Thanks for the offer Lauren, I will let you know if I need to take you up on it!
Finally getting round to this! Lauren, is the place you use called Mono? http://www.allinlondon.co.uk/directory/1355/122253.php
Thanks.
I've had my Janome machine checked and fixed by the place on Green Lanes in the last year or two. The older man who owns the shop knows his stuff and took the time to explain the problem I had. I was happy with them. Plus they carried it home for me as I had a twisted ankle which was extremely kind.
Chris Pantelli on Green Lanes between Cavendish and Burgoyne Rd. My mum used to go there, they have been there over 30 years.

Try Tony's Srewing Centre next to Tufnell Park Tube

They have been around for years so must be doing something right.

Hi, I took mine here recently. Really good, knows his stuff and you can leave your car outside hazards on whilst you consult (he'll give you a little card for your window). http://www.tonyssewingcentre-london.co.uk/contact-us Otherwise right next to tube...

Just to say that I did go to Mono who are in Fonthill Road (almost at the end by Tollington Park) - see the link further down this post. They were really good - they only took a couple of days to fix the machine (and service it) and gave me some very useful tips to avoid having the same problems again. From my experience I'd recommend them.
