Hi all
I am a Greek national and have been living in Harringay since 2005. The Greek authorities now want proof of my residence here from either the tax office or a local authority. This needs to cover the last 5 years. I have contacted Harringay council but they appear not to give out letters confirming that I have lived or paid council tax here. Copies of my council tax bills will not do as they are not a letter.
Does anyone know if Harringay can provide anything other than copies of these bills? Something from the electoral register perhaps? I wonder if any other Greek citizens are on this forum too and would know about this

That's ridiculous a council tax bill won't do. I would argue it is a letter - it is addressed to you and comes through the post.
What about your P60s?
Yes the P60s will do but not on their own. You are right about the bill being a letter but this is not how they see it. Greek bureaucracy is a thing of beauty: normally what is understood to be an 'official document' is an original document that has signatures and stamps on it.
Dear Emine
Wow this is amazing. I am very grateful to you indeed!
Best wishes

There's also an online form on the HMRC website which you could use. Within the questions you specify the period for which the certificate is required.

The link to the form is on the right hand side.

Hi there
many thanks I know about the form but for a number of reasons I cannot make use of it, which is why I need a letter instead.
Thanks for this response, I appreciate it
