Hello,
I am a mum on maternity and I am looking for a kind soul to share their Dreamweaver and Photoshop for a Mac with me for free or for a small fee. I am hoping to build my own website and start my own business but cannot afford to buy these programs new. So if anyone would be willing to help me it would be really appreciated. Any version, old or new is fine.
Thanks
Daniela

Hi Daniela
I wouldn't necessarily recommend these as the best tools to create a simple website. Try starting with an online based platform like:
http://www.squarespace.com/
https://wordpress.com/
http://cargocollective.com/
If it is an e-commerce site you intend on building (i.e. you are selling things online). I would try:
http://www.shopify.co.uk/
https://www.etsy.com/uk/
Depending on the content of your site you may still find photoshop useful to work on your images. But I would give dreamweaver a miss...these online platforms have done a lot of the hard work for you. Use these and you will end up with a more professional result.
Hope that helps.
Michael
Hello Michael M,
Thank you for your reply. I really appreciate your input but I already have an easy shop (which is not very successful hence the need for a website). I am also aware of free web building websites and tools but they are no use to me since I want a selling website(not a simple website) for which you still have to pay for on all of the above. But thanks for taking the time to help .
Daniela
Hi Daniela
You can create a selling website through Shopify . http://www.shopify.co.uk/online
They offer a multitude of great templates to create a stand alone website.

Rather than the crushingly expensive Photoshop, I would recommend GIMP. It's open-source and free, and there's plenty of support for it on various forums out there on the interwebs. And I would also second the recommendation for WordPress and SquareSpace. There's no need to learn how to build a website from HTML up these days. Put the effort instead into understanding your analytics.
Hello,
will definitely check GIMP.Thats something I was not aware of. In relation to WordPress, its no good to me since I want an online shop and will have to pay for these anyway through the free building tools. Thank you though for you reply.
Daniela
Daniela, I would also suggest you consider The GIMP.
With version 2.8, it is now more purely and genuinely a Macintosh application. In other words, the Menus appear at the top of the screen. The earlier, cruder version for the Mac (2.6) looked like a "Windows" programme, with menus appearing in every window.
I've made use of the GIMP's Perspective tool. You can 'correct' distortion in photos (such as barrel or pincushion or axial) or you can 'distort' a rectilinear image to fit another image in more or less proper perspective.
There are some powerful tools in it, just like Photoshop, but IMO, neither programme is particularly easy to use.
