Hi all.
Has anyone else noticed how horrific the images are on a constant loop being beamed out of the windows of Ersan & Co opposite the Salisbury?
When it was first being refurbished, it was a mystery as to what it was going to be, then as the 'PERSONAL INJURY, 'ACCIDENT CLAIMS' and 'MEDICAL NEGLIGENCE' banners were unveiled it became clear that it is a ambulance chaser megamart.
So what right? These [sort of firms*] have to be based somewhere.
My gripe is that they show videos on a constant loop of all of the worst things which can happen. There is one video in particular which features an awful car accident where a car crosses into the oncoming lane and is obliterated by a truck. I have been in a couple of car accidents, and they are no joke, and it struck me that this is particularly inappropriate footage to be broadcasting to the general public 24 hours a day.
Also the monitors seem to be beaming these out at about a million lumens, they illuminate the whole street, thankfully my bedroom is not on the street side or I would need blackout curtains.
Who can I complain to? (Besides you lot...)

Actually John I didn't mention motorists merely the positioning of signage in relation to traffic on a corner which does accommodate a crossing for pedestrians too.

Sorry. I read " two - way traffic " as being cars, vans, buses etc. I am a motorist because I drive a car.

And "a pub" my thinking around this was that people go to pubs to drink and any distraction to pedestrian or "motorist/driver/cyclist" may have unpleasant consequences. God knows as a driver myself I find the people trying to cross green lanes hazardous enough. But let us leave it there because clearly there are more important things at hand not analysing my wording, your current status, or powers of observation.

It's 'orrible sitting in the Salisbury and seeing those god awful screens. It's enough to put me off my pint of pride.

My Information this evening is that both screens are now switched back on.
Can anyone confirm this?
By coincidence, a number of Councillors, including me, attended a training session on Planning Enforcement last night.
I'll take action tomorrow.

Following Council enforcement action, the screen on St Anns was turned off and the one facing Green Lanes was pulled back two or three feet from the window, while remaining on.
About three weeks ago, that one too was switched off.
As far as I can see, enforcement here is an open and shut case, given that the signs are illuminated (the key word in the regulations).
Now, I'm told they're both are back on.

Out of interest, why did enforcement only insist on the St Annes one being turned off while allowing the Green Lanes one to stay on (albeit moved back)? That seems somewhat arbitrary.

You're assuming that turning off the St Anne's one, was all that Enforcement asked. I suspect you'd best ask Ersan & Co. your question about their conduct that followed the Council's enforcement action.

Bushy, can you please get in touch with your own local Councillors about this?
i.e. Councillors in Harringay and St Anns Wards. Maybe attend one of their surgeries? Do you have their contact details?
I've already spent quite a lot of time on this. It seems to me that the local Councillors of the Majority Group have done nothing about this problem, beyond being copied into emails of angry residents.
I seems I'm the only Councillor interested in this matter (beyond a possible wish to be kept up to date), yet I'm a Highgate Councillor and I live in Stroud Green.
