Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

My friend has a few days to turn his living room into a kitten playground (before kitten moves in). So if you have any redundant fun cat games, please let me know. Cat tree would be brilliant of course – though kitten will get one eventually.

RSPCA also always looking for smaller toys, so if you have any spare they might be happy to get them.

ThanksIsabelle

The toy my kitten/cat liked most was a ping pong ball. Chased it all over the shop. Soory not got one spare.

That hard, bouncy plastic tape you get around delivery boxes is a good cat toy. In my experience the cat will shun any toy/bed that is purpose-designed anyway..

I have a virtually new scratching post that someone gave me that is too small for my ginormous cat. As far as toys go most are a waste of money, a scrunched up ball of foil or those plastic packaging strips work best. My cat also likes savaging my knickers and tights when they are hanging to dry. If you are going to get toys a laser pointer, a yeoww catnip cigar or lemon and those sticks with dangly feathers on are the only things mine plays with.

Hi Lauren. I've found the best scratching posts at www.scratchycats.com

They come in large sizes too - mine love the 100% sisal ones. As you know, I have some big cats as well!

Well there is no shortage of ideas on how to entertain the fluffy creature with all kinds of simple toys ;). I was more thinking in terms of solitary activities, like covering for night shifts etc. Cat tree, bouncy castle, racing track, mouse theatre... that kind of stuff? Not introducing the kitten to virtual games yet, so no PC tablet etc.

It's a cat FFS. Just let it out in the garden & it will do what cats do by nature. If it is too young to go out then just keep it in doors & let it make its own fun or wreck the place. Cats have adapted to sharing surroundings with humans for thousands of years but they rarely do what you want them to. The Cat chooses to stay with you. It ain't no dog & probably could not give a toss when you get home unless it is hungry.

It's a kitten and it loves playing and discovering stuff! I was kidding about the bouncy castle or racing track. But cat trees are brilliant and, since this kitten is moving in soon, I thought I'd ask the local community if there was a spare one.

My old cats love sitting up their cat tree and watch what goes on in the street, even though they can access the garden anytime. And they certainly love a bit of a play at times and human company at other times (both ask for cuddles, one often settles wherever I am) – I'm positive it's not just before dinner.

My old cat whence bored of ping pong balls bouncing of the skirting got into suduko before it got mainstream popular. when not sudukoing it just enjoyed the pleasure of cat napping for most of the day. A right lazy moggy.

Thanks for the tip. Will introduce kitten to sudoku when it's old enough. Let me know if you happen to have any left.
