Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Dear everyone,

After two amazing years, I've decided that the time has come to close Harringay Market.

As most of you know Sunday 20 July is our last day at South Harringay School, and it's been quite tough to find a new suitable venue, where we could hold the market every Sunday.
The Kurdish Centre were keen, however they were unsure whether they could commit to every Sunday.
It was impossible to find another venue on such a short notice.

I've had people from Stroud Green, Crouch End, Muswell Hill etc. emailing me about possible venues, however it meant losing the current clientele and rebranding, because Harringay Market isn't Harringay Market in Stroud Green.

I feel that the time has come to move on. And it's fine.

Massive thank you to everyone for your support in the past two years. I've made some great friends and met some very lovely people!

A very special thank you to Peet, Matt and Helen (who were there almost every single Sunday from the start), Liz, Phil K, John McM, Ebony and Paul, Burgoyne Bec and Malcolm, Charlotte F, Hugh, Antonia K ( who has been amazing and helped me out with the market in her spare time these past two years!) Ant, Jasmine and Roger, David Schmitz and Nick G-T for all your help, advice, words of encouragement and friendship.

Hope to see old and new faces at our last two markets (13 & 20 July).
And you can still visit Tottenham Green Market (every Saturday until 2 August at least).

Up next: the Harringay Block Party on Saturday 27 September. Our very own independent festival with lots of good street food, live music, an art exhibition and good vibes.

See you around!

Thanks for your hard work Jessica, really sad to hear this. I never learnt why the current location couldn't continue - I think the earlier North Harringay Primary location was changed to try to improve foot traffic?

Well it will make sure I get down to the Tottenham Green one at least.
Jessica, you have done such a wonderful job with Harringay Market, it is a great loss to the area to see it go. I hope that sometime in the future you will be able to find a suitable venue for its return. Thank you for all your hard work. We are very sad to see it finish.
Hi Jessica, ditto to all the comments above. The market is lovely and we will miss it very much! If you do want to rethink then maybe we can all help you try and find another location? Come back soon!

What a shame! It was so nice having the market on our doorstep. Good food and good people. Thanks for everything, though, and hopefully, you might be back some day.

how sad and what a loss for harringay- but amazing job done

living opposite, although i didnt go every week i would venture in every 2-3w and have loved treating myself to the yummy food, as well as the little pressies I could buy people there- i also really appreciated the social aspect as really brought people together

I shall be there at the last day as I was there at the first day.

A link to this page came across my desk this evening. What's been happening round the back of the market, Jessica? Does this explain the reasons for the market ending? Were the vice squad called in?

Dear Jessica, I enjoyed coming to your market whenever I could and loved its atmosphere. Every time I came I thoroughly indulged myself in quality fare from the stalls, brought back treats for friends and family and admired its brilliant organisation. You are a class act who brought verve and vitality to Harringay and will be sorely missed. Thanks and definitely come back soon please!
