Michael's thread reminded me that I have access to the 1901 census for these 3 roads.
The School House was occupied by James Quin, his wife Sarah and their 2 children, Ethel and Amy aged 13 and 10 - and one Florence Stockwell (their servant!). James was born in Huntingdonshire, Sarah in Cambridgeshire and the girls in Hertfordshire, as was Florence.
Unfortunately some of the entries are barely legible but I shall do my best to give you as much information as possible.
Birdy, for some reason I can't find either of your addresses listed.
On the Enumerator's record it mentions nos 1-79 Allison Rd and 2-76 Effingham Rd in what's known as District 5. And in District 4 only nos 2-90 Allison Rd are mentioned.
Could it be that the addresses you are looking for hadn't been built or where under construction when the census was taken? That's all I can think of to explain why one whole side of Effingham Rd is missing!
If you or anyone else has any bright ideas, let me know and I'll try again.
Right, I've found the details for you. It seems parts of the ladder came under the Civil Parish of Tottenham even though the Ecclesiastical Parish was Hornsey.
131 Effingham was occupied by William E Kelsey, aged 46, He was a retired bootmaker (or bookmaker) and he was born in St Pancras. His wife was Elizabeth aged 48.
Their children were Elizabeth C aged 25, a ( next bit illegible) assistant, Alice E, 23, a (something illegible) book keeper, William H, aged 20 a warehouseman and Edith aged 19 who was a chilldren's milliner.
93 Allison Road was occupied by Thomas R Sharp, a 67 year old musician born in Nottingham, his wife Jane aged 70 and their son George W aged 30 who was a railway clerk.
This is another property which was divided in two.
1. William Henry Last aged 30 was employed as a clerk (next bit is illegible). He was born in Kings Cross. His wife Nellie R was 27 and was born in Balsall Heath . Also a domestic servant called Mabel Stanbrook, aged 14.
2. Victor Stranes (?, it's quite hard to read), aged 26 was employed a clerk in a warehouse. He was born in America.
His wife Pauline was also 26 and she was born in Austria. They had a one year old daughter called Hilda.
I don't know if it's cheeky to put in a request, but we've recently moved in and are stripping our house (53 Frobisher Road) right back, and this very weekend I was wondering who might have been there first.
I'd love to know, but if you get deluged with requests I'll more than understand!
