Music on the Ladder's next Come and Sing event will be Gilbert & Sullivan's "The Pirate's of Penzance" at St Paul's Church, Wightman Road on Saturday, 7 June. Our lovely conductor, David Went, has agreed to put us through our paces in an afternoon of rehearsals (starting at 1pm) before we perform the entire work as a concert performance in the evening (at 7pm).
Refreshments will be available throughout the day at our wonderful Angel Cafe and singers and audience are invited to join us for a drink after the performance.
It's £10 for singers (scores provided) and £5 for audience. All money will be taken on the door, but if you want to sing, please let us know in advance (including your voice part) by e-mailing us at musicontheladder@gmail.com.
We're extremely lucky to have a fantastic cast of principals lined up for you, too:
Major-General Stanley - Michael Baker
The Pirate King - Stephen Matthews
Samuel, his Lieutenant - Philip Kennedy
Frederic, the Pirate Apprentice - Anthony Harbottle
Sergeant of Police - Maurice Cheng
Mabel (the Major General's youngest daughter) - Clare Young
Edith (her sister) - Bethany Burrow Atherton
Kate (another sister) - Cecile Diener
Ruth (a piratical maid of all work) - Hannah Leonard
It would be great to see some friends and neighbours there - please come along and join in!
