Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Thank you to all the lovely people who put their hands up and voted Green.

I feel we fielded three commendable candidates, equipped with the core skills that mean we are capable of actioning Green values in practice. I know I will continue to campaign to improve our area and help people locally.

Politics is alive and thriving in Harringay, and I hope we will all get our hands dirty and pull together for the benefit of the greater good in Harringay.

My reward is the people I met and will continue to meet as a resident living in Harringay, nothing beats human experience, in a city with a population of over 8.3 million.

Thank you to my wife and children, and thank you to friends who have been supportive during the election, thank you to the people of Harringay who patiently listened and we're friendly regardless of the time of day.

Thank you to the Haringey Green's who were open and supportive to me, thanks to our Green activists, officials and digital media support, go online and join the Greens, so we can come together and continue the great work of the Green Party to improve our environment and protect our rights. http://www.haringeygreens.org.uk/support

Thank you to TUSC for supporting Harringay, thank you to our Lib Dem councillors who served our community over the years, congratulations to our Harringay Labour colleagues, I will continue my work as a resident to raise awareness of issues great and small, and communicate their importance to our ward councillors, to enable an effective council over the next four years.

The Conservatives were certainly brave, Portillo always said he couldn't air his personal views in government, no such problem here, though entertaining at times, you didn't manage to avoid meandering off piste with Labour online, which didn't serve anyone's benefit.

I won't say 'it's goodnight from me,' but instead 'hello, good evening and welcome.'

The Green Party is now the opposition in the east of the borough, got second place in most wards. If they build on this they could get seats next time. Obviously Liberals got slammed for their national politics, and no way to know if this will last. But as the world comes round to realising that there's nothing more urgent than climate change, the effects are here to see, if the rest of the 'package' of Green policies is worked on and promoted, the support can only increase. Keeping up the momentum between these four-year discussions is what's needed, can you get a shopfront somewhere to sustain the presence?  And let the other parties steal the policies as much as they like, co-operation is what's needed.

Matt is an Arts graduate, if he is wearing a certain colour it is cool beyond comprehension, get on board.

The voting figures for the Euro election puts the Green Party in second place (9669) well ahead of the Lib Dems (7323).

Also, I am told that the new Labour group has the largest group of "Red-Greens".

So it seems that environmental issues will feature prominently in the coming period.

Looking forward to finding out the 'colour' of all the new Cllrs.  Red, red-green, red-orange, red-blue! ?

Thérèse, I'll bet that, each bright morning, Green Party members will eagerly read your new bulletin.  Every one brimful with positive, helpful, practical suggestions on how to educate/force people to behave in ways you prefer.

"The sun poured in like honey and stuck to all my senses."

Matt, on a personal note, I'd like to record my thanks for a lift home on Friday morning after The Count!

We were all pretty tired after that long night.

Highgate Councillor
Liberal Democrat Party

but such a beautiful morning, the cold clear air at 6 a.m. and the view from the top of the Pally made me think I should get up at that time every day. (Hasn't worked so far.)
