It is easy for such details to go unnoticed and to then be removed or covered up with fascia signage and other assorted clutter. Great to see a photographic record and great account on the blog link. 

If you like tiles then I recommend Lisbon, specifically the Bairro Alto.

I think I went there many years ago - does it have loads of (mainly) individual reclaimed tiles?

And I can also recommend George's Fish Bar (for the fish & chips that is!)
