Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Before Hugh begins his clampdown on local electioneering(I ruefully think he is right to do so) I just wondered if other areas than West Green had been the fortunate recipients of Tottenham Conservatives' ass-kicking campaign? Despite 2 large Victor Meldrew notices on my front door detailing all the leaflets, fliers, menus etc not welcome, two Conservative leaflets drifted through my door the other day. They were accompanied by pizza and mini cab leaflets, so I'm guessing the Tory campaign has been 'outsourced' to the private sector. It could be a Labour leaflet as it outlines all the GOOD things that have happened in the Borough recently! It cautions against police 'gung-ho' operations risking community relations, accompanied by a photo of the late Mark Duggan mourning the premature death of his child. Tasteful, no? It claims West Green is a 'two horse race' with the Libdems out of sight. Given that a cursory glance at the 2010 show a clear Labour win, with the Libdems a distant second and the Tories third I am clearly out of touch with the zeitgeist here. I doubt disillusion with the Libdems will translate to Tory votes, but Labour don't necessarily have much to shout about. The demographic of the area means its unlikely Labour have much to fear, but I suspect the Greens may benefit from the disgruntled voters. Perhaps the changing nature of the area may give the Libdems a boost? The leaflet is so 'how not to write a leaflet' that I just love it! Perhaps Justin (the poor man's William Hague) Hinchcliffe could throw some light?

They're a joke. Ignore them. Justin is very fond of his old school teacher whom I'm expecting to stand down from Northumberland Park any day now. The Tories to worry about, as Alan often says, are in the Labour Party.

Does anyone have a handy list of all the LP candidates, by ward?  eg is it on some mega LP website? As they all pop up in odd places not where they live, which is of course totally legal as long as they are within the borough, I'm a bit confused re who will be what where - I only know Tottnm Green for sure.

NPK being the most contentious ward re the Spurs threat, who will be defending it?

Yet again HoL leads the way in breaking scandals! Following Private Eye's report of the St Anne's selection debacle in a recent issue, Hugh Muir in today's Guardian Diary references this Tottenham Conservative newsletter! Are we soon to read in the Daily Mail of lost cats and dodgy characters lurking about? Whatever happens, remember, you read it first on HoL!
