I've noticed this too! The girl serving our food had to move prams out of the way herself after the parents ignored her requests for passage last time we visited. I had to wonder if it was an event or just a new 'thing' - but this was on a Sunday.
And I absolutely love the idea of 'Nappy Hour'. Do you work in marketing or advertising by any chance?
I've been chucked out of there, admittedly eight years ago, for having a drink with a sleeping one year old in a pram after 8pm. Had to go and sit on Duckett's Common with some Stella from Lion King instead. The Garden Ladder is your refuge if you're avoiding children.
That said, Friday nights it seems full of children to me too these days.
Too right! I got ID'd last time I went in the Garden Ladder (I'm long past 30...) so they are clearly taking their responsibilities seriously on that count.
Sometimes parents need a drink too... Although the Garden Ladder has a no kids policy, so a child free haven is just over the road. http://www.harringayonline.com/forum/topics/sunday-carvery-at-the-g...
The Garden Ladder has a no kids policy for that reason (not just parents either, reading the thread above - teachers also need the sanctuary it appears).
LOL at Nappy Hour!
I've noticed this growing over the last few years too.
When child no1 was tiny, I would meet a couple of other parents in a cafe once in a blue moon. Wind forward a decade and there were so many babies/toddlers/parents at Café Blend a few months ago that we gave up and had a cup of tea at home instead (no cake though)
Having said that, child no2 came home with his friend late Sunday afternoon complaining that Fairland Park was so full of babies/toddlers/parents that they couldn't run around for fear of injuring someone!
