Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Could i suggest that cat owners in the Seaford Road area keep their cats in during the night or restrict their access to the front as much as possible as there are two black guys that go hunting cats with their trophy dogs (pit bull type) in this area during the night.  Their normal procedure is to corner a cat in a residents garden and then place a dog either side of the cats escape route and then one of them will then flush the cat out for the dogs to rip to pieces.

I have reported them to the police previously but apparently there is nothing that they can do to stop them.

This is a horrible story and must have been very distressing.
It does bring up some questions for me.
I live on Seaford Road, and it is very quiet at night, and pretty quiet during the day too. If this happened, I would expect it to be very noisy.
Did anyone else hear or see anything?
When and where did it happen? And at what time?

Also, from your description of the event, I'd expect a horrendous result in a garden or along the street.
Are there any photos of this? Are there any other witnesses to this?

I hope you are not offended by my questioning. But I'd like to get as much information as possible, if possible.
Many thanks.

This is indeed a horrible story and very distressing and I am certainly not offended by your questions.

Q; I live on Seaford Road, it is very quiet at night, and pretty quiet during the day too. If this happened, I would expect it to be very noisy.

A: Seaford Road is a indeed a very quiet road at night and it was because of this that i heard the noise that made me investigate.  Strangely the dogs were quite quiet, it was the two men that were flushing out the cat that were making any noise.

Q: Did anyone else hear or see anything?

A: Good question, but as of yet i don't know.

Q: When and where did it happen? And at what time?

A: This happened on Seaford road just after midnight on the day that i reported it on HOL

Q: Also, from your description of the event, I'd expect a horrendous result in a garden or along the street.

A: This is a very good question. The cat i saw them set the dogs on was a neighbours young black and white cat that managed to thankfully outwit the two dogs and their owners.  Having said that i am sure that they would have gone after other cats that they came across as this would seem to be their reason for being in the area.

I hope that this helps.

Thanks for your detailed response Nigel.

It good to know the cat did outsmart the dogs, and 'owners'.

But yes, it's worth being aware people are attempting to do these kinds of actions.

Was it up Avenue Rd or Roslyn Rd end of Seaford Road out of interest??

They were walking in the direction of Roslyn Road coming from Avenue Road. The poor cat was cornered in the front garden of 87 Seaford Road. I'm sure that if it hadn't been so young, it may well not have escaped.

Thanks Nigel, I'll let my neighbours know and keep a look out for this.

so so glad i dont live near there

cant keep my cats in as they rip the catflap off the door

Thankfully to my knowledge and checks they stay mostly outside my back door
