Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hello all

Having finally scraped together a deposit for my first home, there seems to be a real lack of (affordable) property on the market in the area.

I have rented a flat on Cavendish Road for the past 7 years or so. Ideally I would like to purchase a 2-bed garden flat on the ladder, but I will consider flats without gardens. Must be a minimum of 2 bedrooms. If you're thinking of selling or knows anyone who is, wish to avoid the hassle of agents then please contact me. I might be able to stretch to a 3 bed flat but that could be out of my budget.

The condition of the flat is irrelevant as I would be happy to refurbish to my taste if required, but equally a flat that is ready to move into is also desirable.

Many thanks in advance

Phil

I guess £300k+. I know some go for more but it depends on lease length, condition, etc. Of course, I want to pay as little as poss, therefore I will take a shorter lease and/or a property in need of full refurbishment.

What's your budget, you might find you can afford a whole house in N15! That's what happened to us...

Seconding that. N15 compared to N4/N8 is 'cheap' for no particular reason.

Know of a 2 bedroom garden flat, listed building split into 5 flats overlooking green in N15,share of freehold. Just became empty after 13 years of being let, private sale. Let me know if of interest as outside the ladder area. Helen

Hi Helen - I have a friend who might well be interested in this.  I'll send you a connection request... Thanks! Peter

I lived on the ladder and was obsessed with finding a flat within 3 streets of where I lived. after looking for over 2 years and deciding I could no longer afford N4 I started searching further afield and came across a lovely garden flat in Noel Park (N22). I have friendly neighbours who have lived here for years, I walk to the tube in 5 minutes, the street is quiet, our property has gone up in value, there is a bookshop, a fish stall, a veg market and there are 5 species of birds in my garden!

Try the streets behind Turnpike Lane station around Sirdar Ave as well.

My neighbour upstairs has lived here for 30 years and has never been bothered but he did say that about ten years ago there was a spate of burglaries. Sometimes I've seen cop cars around and I've no doubt there are misgivings going on but there are enough long term residents and family activity around me to make me feel safe here.
