Any Use for Old Pens Beyond Landfill?

Having filled various containers with old pens with the idea that they might one day be useful, the time has finally come for the bulk of them to leave home.

Should I just wave my fledglings goodbye as they wing their way to Landfillland or I can I direct them on their flight path to somewhere more useful?

If you're registered as a company in the work that you do Hugh you maybe able to register with the Terracycle scheme for pens and many other waste streams. Otherwise Google seems to throw up various 'artists' that take them sometimes for art creations. What volume of pens do you have/box size?

I know someone who missed out on a presidential prison pardon in africa (an extra 6 years behind bars) because he didn't have a pen. Today he always carries three pens.
