Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

I am fed up with veolia and their poor customer service. I was packing a cardboard box to place into the green bin, when the veolia employee came to collect the black bin, and without first looking into the bin he said he wont take it. I asked him why and he said he does not know, he seem to have a poor command of English, and kept saying he did not know. Then he opened the lid and took a picture of the bin and walked off. I kept asking him what the problem was, then he mutted something like it was too heavy... I called the local councillor David Schmitz and explained what had just happened. The employee refused to talk to the councillor to explain why my bin was not collected. 

I believe David Schmitz has logged a complaint with veolia and will chase this is up for me.

I am angry and appalled with the useless service and poor customer service from veolia. This is not the first time I had problems with them. Before, they did not collect any of my refuse for three weeks! It got it sorted when I posed pictures and reported it to local council.

I think veolia needs to be kicked of of harringay and the service brought back in house.

Don't even get me started.... We had a mattress that we requested to be picked up. They said they'd collect it in a month which was a bit long but fine. On the day we leave it out with a note on it. Get home from work and it's still there. 4 attempts failed attempts over and a week and a half later with it sitting on the drive in the rain they came and got it but only after we took to twitter and their PR mgr picked it up! I'm absolutely baffled as all I hear is how bad their service is... how could the mgmnt allow a service to run like this?!

As promised, I've asked the Veolia "village manager" to get back to me about this complaint.

I'd suggest that anyone who has a problem with Veolia should contact one of their ward councillors.

Vella are a joke, I live in a row of 10 houses and without fail they miss at least one or two of the houses out every week, it got to the stage where myself or my neighbours are watching to make sure they empty the bins! And why they need 3 rubbish carts going up and down the same road is beyond me, 1- recycle 2- food waste and garden waste, 3- normal rubbish!!! Madness

I had to report one of the binmen last month for making lewd comments as I was walking to the station, I told him his comments were not appropriate and he and his colleague then ridiculed me. I reported to council who passed on to Veolia who have apologised.

Lauren, that's disgusting! The employees should be sacked! 

One of their managers called me back to discuss and said that the binman was upset because he hadn't meant any offence and was just trying to engage with people on his rounds. I think he was saying in a roundabout way that the bloke thought he was paying me a compliment. I told him that whatever he meant it was unacceptable behaviour and that he should stick to the business of emptying bins, rather than making sexist remarks to women on their way to work. The manager apologised to me and assured me that the team will be spoken to regarding inappropriate behaviour. I wouldn't want anyone to lose their job but I feel it was necessary to address the issue.

You're completely right, and I am sure the bloke knew exactly what he was doing, he just did not expect to be caught. I'd love to see someone be made an example of, as I am sick of the comments, it's disgusting. 

my black bin was emptied this morning. Well that was not hard was it?
