Harringay online

Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

My friend is expecting twins in Spring next year. Very exciting!

However, she is having a lot of trouble finding someone to work as a Mothers Helper.

A lot of the nannies she has contacted don't want the work as they prefer sole charge rather than being a helper.

So I thought I might post something on HOL for her in the hope that she manages to find someone.

LOCATION: My friend is based in Muswell Hill.  These twins will be her first children.

HOURS: Working hours will be Monday to Friday from 8am until 6pm

LENGTH OF JOB: IF my friend finds the right person, this job will be for 4 years. It will start from the birth of babies until school years.

PAY: she has a daily rate budget but will provide that on application

DUTIES INCLUDE:

- Preparing breakfast for mother each morning

- Clearing of breakfast dishes, stack and un-stacking of dishwasher, wipe down kitchen bench tops and hoover floor in kitchen

- Make Beds

- Tidy bathroom and the lounge room

- Laundry - washing, put in tumble dryer or on clothes horse and then fold, sort and put away (there will be a lot of this so approx. 2 - 3 loads per day)

- She has a weekly cleaner but there will be a little bit of light cleaning duties during the week mainly dusting, hoover, mopping (whatever is required on the day and whatever keeps the house tidy and in order).

 - Running errands at the local shops (10 mins walk away) EG: collecting dry cleaning, purchasing of nappies, bread, milk and other general groceries & visit to the post office for posting of items and other tasks (this will not happen often and money will always be provided)

- Preparing of dinner.  She usually buys M&S meals so all that will need to be done will be to put the food in the oven and maybe boil some vegetables and then plate the meals ready for re-heating later in the night.

- Helping with bath time.  She will need help with getting clothes and bath products out as well as clearing the bath area after bath time.

- Preparing and cleaning of babies bottles

- Accompany mother & babies to appointments during the day

- Whatever else this new mother may require!

CONTACT:

If you are interested (or know of anyone who is), please make contact with me and I will then provide you with the details of my friend.

NOTE: CRB check & references will be required.

Thanks,

Mel

Blimey! what a job spec. it would be easier to just have twins!

Hi Sharon

Yes, sorry for the detail but I guess she knows what she wants!

yep, a skivvy.

Sounds more like a housekeeper than a mother's help, try The Lady

http://www.lady.co.uk/home/classifieds/25-jobs/26-domestic-uk

Thank you for this suggestion Takaokagiejin. I will send her the link.

Sounds more like the spec for a wife

( Except the hours are shorter )

and the chauvinistic husband is missing!

A spouse would get a break for dial M for murder and a glass of wine when the last load is in.

Hello people

If you don't have anything helpful to add can you please not make any comment.

Unfortunately her in-laws are no longer alive, her parents are elderly and her husband works 2 busy jobs to pay the bills.  He will help the first 2 weeks but cannot afford to take any more time off.

It is her brother who is paying for the helper as they cannot afford it.

I don't have children but I think it is very unfair to judge someone.  She will not have 1 baby to feed but 2 babies!  And have to fit in a sleep somewhere.

I think that would make any first time mother tired let alone having to worry about other tasks around the house.

So many other people (including users of this site) have nannies who I am sure get asked to do general tidy of house, laundry etc

It angers and saddens me that this site seems to have turned into a site to criticise others rather than helping others.

Disappointed.

best HOL middle class nightmare this week! good luck with the search for a wet nurse. we are only teasing

Sorry that you are feeling like this. As a helpful suggestion, has she tried gumtree  or childcare.co.uk, the latter is an extremely good site and worth spending the money to sign up. I would give her my log in details but my subscription just expired and I did not renew as I have found a nanny now. I will ask my nanny if she knows anyone too because she has lots of nanny friends in that area. Good luck to all.

Hi Sally

Thanks for the suggestion of that childcare website. I will suggest that.
