Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Would you leave your cable TV package for a few watchable channels on the internet?

When I have been reading articles and watching videos about progressing TV technology it becomes so clear and obvious that our TV watching habits are going to be changed if we are agree with this or not.

The main change is that all the most popular TV station are going to or they already are on the internet and we can pay monthly subscription for each of them to watch them without limits. So instead of having almost unlimited and useless TV channel packages we can choose those which we want to watch and pay only for them. Sounds good?

There is a question for everybody - if you have a TV package of 100 channels for your choice how many of them you really watch and what is the real number of channels do you really need for your comfort.

According to surveys we have between 4-6 favourite TV channels in every household so why we still pay for the whole package instead of paying for just a few of them.  This idea is quite popular in USA and Canada but sooner or later we will also face this new choice.

Any ideas or suggestions?

I watch Freeview and pay nothing

This dilemma keeps me awake at night. What can we do ?

Me too James. Any particular hours when you lie awake in paroxysms of worry? Is there a pub open then where we can meet to discuss our viewing future?

I haven't owned a television for the past 4-5 years and don't pay for a subscription to anything but still watch TV. I think that paying via subscription for media will change the more it shifts to being online-only and there will be more customisable pay-per-view/subscription packages available. It'll be interesting to see where the shift ends up!

I'd be interested to know how you do that. I have lousy reception up here.

You need to get some of your minions to magic you up some better broadband, O Lord!

I think that we are living during quite interesting time and we are going to observe an interesting fight between cable providers such as Virgin Media, Sky and BT to keep their clients with them for as long as possible offering better and better deals to slow down this new movement. We are going to leave cable TV for the internet subscriptions in future and there is nothing they can stop it.

You are right Cat. The faster broadband for this purpose the better. For example annual subscription of Netflix would cost about £60 with a little disadvantage that UK Netflix is a bit limited comparing to American one
