Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Here's what it looked like back then http://www.britishpathe.com/video/model-traffic-area-no-1/query/Lor...

Does anyone know if there was ever a plan to have traffic lights in the new one? I actually saw some traffic lights lying around when the area was being refurbished but there aren't any to be seen now. I think the kids would love it.

P.S. Take care if you go down there - my 2-year-old's balance bike was stolen there at the weekend

There is an event to celebrate 75 years of the Model Traffic Area on Saturday 27 July, 12 to 4pm. The opening ceremony is 12.30pm.

I have a document (I think from the Friends of Lordship Rec) which says "The Model Traffic Area was restored in 2012 in line with its original layout and features; the restoration works included road marking, road traffic signs, cycle lanes and portable traffic lights providing an ideal facility for cycling proficiency". Perhaps you may want to check with the Friends, http://www.lordshiprec.org.uk/

Sorry to hear that a bicycle was stolen last weekend. However, there is absolutely nothing different about Lordship Rec with regard to thieves stealing a bicycle. Bicycle thieves operate in every area of the country/world and people should be very careful about bikes wherever they are. Be vigilant about leaving bikes unattended, even for a few seconds, wherever you are.

"Portable traffic lights" - I think I know now what happened to these. Someone left them "unattended".
