Congratulations to the GRA.

They have just been awarded £3,000 under the Making a Difference Funds towards throwing a party in September.

Lucky them.

I wonder if the ladder-ettes will be allowed to gate crash.
So if I had asked for money for booze and cakes for my neighbours I would have got it?

Bizarre....
And if I bid for £10K in March'09 and another £10K in March'10 to throw out a Party in May'10, will I get it? And would it be Making a Difference?
i thought the idea of harringay online was to bring the all the residents of harringay together not to create divisions between those that live in the gardens or those that live on the ladder?
I agree Simon. I certainly don't want anything on this site to become an excuse for tribalism.

My original posting was genuinely well intentioned. But I guess it's fair for people to express a dissenting view. There are going to be differences of opinion between people, be they between Mattison and Seymour, Stanhope and Rutland or Cavendish and Roseberry. But that doesn't mean a discussion needs to become tribal. I imagine the interlocutors on this page would be writing the same thing if the grant were made to a party in, say, Burgoyne Road. The points being made seem less about where, but what or, in one case how. I think that's legitimate enough debate. There's nothing personal nor agressive.

Can't there be dissent without tribalism? Otherwise we end up working on the same basis as the warring football factions on Green Lanes. We need to become strong enough to disagree without seeking sanctuary in our tribe.

But, for now, as a demonstration of one Ladder resident's commitment to Harringay harmony and having given a chance for opinions to be aired, I will close off the discussion. Of course, those who disagree or have more to say on this topic are free to start another discussion so long as it's in keeping with site protocols.
