I have been complaining about the dirty conditions at the leisure centre for months now, the standard of cleaning is very poor. Last Monday I went for a swimming lesson and found a cockroach in the locker in the women's changing room. I warned the young woman that had just taken her things out of the locker (who had a toddler with her) She found two cockroaches in their clothes as she went to get dressed. WE both complained to management.
Haringey Advertiser picked up the story http://www.haringey-today.co.uk/News.cfm?id=19339&headline=Cock... infestation at swimming pool
As yet the leisure centre have not responded except to say that they were aware of the situation....I wish they had told me then i could have made an informed choice.
Can anyone help address this with the council or the leisure centre, I saw a local councillor respond to a previous message.
Many thanks
Eileen

Eileen, thanks for flagging this up. I'll take it up with the council. This is totally unacceptable and the council need to be dealing with it. If you want to correspond further you can contact me on karen.alexander.haringeylibdems@gmail.com or on here
Hello Karen thank you for responding so quickly. I have emailed you offline. Eileen
Park Road swimming pool is also filthy. The changing rooms stink of old nappies and worse, floors are usually covered in hair and other unknown dirt and pool side it is not any better. I have seen the bottom of the pool covered in slime. I brought my sister who lives in Denmark to watch my son's swimming lesson. She said the pool would have been shut down immediately in Denmark because of its poor hygiene. She was also surprised that swimmers didn't have to wash with soap before entering the pool. On the posititve side the commitment of the teachers and the Haringey Aquatics club is 10/10.
Hello
thank you for your responses. I have just spoken to the swimming co ordinator at the pool and I am being made to feel that I am a problem for raising this. "it is a shame it went to the Haringey advertiser because the article has put people off who desperately need to come to the centre'.
The regional manager for Fusion Lifestyle was going to call me but this did not happen and the matter was deferred to Roz the swimming co ordinator. The swimming co ordinator Roz said in our conversation today that there have been no more issues and Enviromental health are happy with things...I think that is what she said because when I asked her to put that in writing she refused and wouldnt repeat it saying that she thought I was recording her (bizarre).
I think that this is a very poor way to deal with a complaint, Eileen
This is such a shame. I'd really hoped to start using the pool more now that my son's getting a bit older but this does not fill me with hope. Why can't they spend a bit of money on proper maintenance and cleaning?
