Hi all.
I wanted to ask if anyone was aware of this happening in the borough as i went out shopping this morning and saw at the end of my road a group of Jewish men who were wearing radios on their belts and a woman who appeared to be from two unmarked cars which had blue lights flashing behind the front radiator grill and front windscreen.
I have had a look online and the indications seem to be that this isn't allowed as it could give a false indication to other road users that the drivers may be police.
I was curious to find out about this matter.

I'm also a curious person and my inclination would be to walk over, smile and politely ask a member of the group. People in the Stamford Hill Haredi community I've met - I assume that's who this is about - would have no problem responding just as politely. Or if they didn't have time, suggesting a contact number where you could find out more.
Do you live in South Tottenham? There is a large Orthodox Jewish population there. Seems that the cars were unmarked police cars and they seem to be responding to a situation. The radios you refer to may be walkie talkies used to try and prevent the men becoming victims of crime.
The Hatzola Ambulance service does actually attend 999 calls and take emergency cases to the local A&E, They attended a 999 call that i made as there were no London Ambulances available at the time.
They are self funded , Own all their ambulances, all volunteer their time to provide this service which is excellent . So maybe they are entittled to have blue lights?.
Agreed - they do a fantastic job. Much under appreciated too! They attended a serious hit-and-run style road incident where a child was injured near here the other day, could have been a lot worse without them so quickly on the scene.
Wow, this is just like Thunderbirds. The means of rescue in the private hands of well meaning and well funded citizens. Just what we need in such lean times.
