Fox family living in the Arena Park ?
Yesterday evening (approx 8pm) I spotted a couple of cubs and what looked like Mum peering out from the planted area between the Homebase car park, Williamson Road and McDonalds. Last week (around 7pm, again on a week night) I saw a vixen confidently walking around Sainsbury's car park with what looked like a chicken bone in her mouth. On both occasions they attracted a lot of attention from us shoppers, but due to carrying heavy bags, I didn't get the chance to take a photo. Has anyone else experienced the same sight at the retail park? They don't seem to come out at the weekends. Perhaps a little too busy for them?!

Yep - I saw a cub out the front of Costa on a Friday night weaving in and out of cars. I can't remember exactly when but it was in the evening around 8ish and still dark (perhaps before the clocks changed/ at the end of March??). I did not get a close look as although there were not many people around, the one that was around was clogging the footpath outside of fitness first. I tried to get past her quickly to go look, buy the time I got to Costa the cub was gone.
I thought maybe the cub was on a food hunting trip... obviously not! I'll keep my eyes peeled next time I go shopping late.

Lou, that's interesting that you spotted a cub at the end of March as I did think they looked very comfortable and had possibly been "squatting" there a while. The vixen I saw was heading in the direction of Mcdonalds. Maybe in it's that area where she finds food to sustain the cubs? :-(

We've seen the foxes a few times, but only seen the cubs near Costa.

Great pic Gordan! The fox you've captured has a much bushier tail and it's fur looks a lot healthier than the fox I saw - maybe the regnard rather than the vixen?

I really like this picture. The blurring of the shopping trolleys and the road makes it look as though the metal and stone is insubstantial to the fox, almost as though it isn't quite in the same world as the supermarket.
Can I download this image and potentially use it in some art work, with attribution?

I've seen them at least 20 times coming out of Fitness First (not to boast; I'm never in there long).
They seem to live in the triangle of bushes between there and McDonalds. Last time there were four cubs, but I'm guessing this may well have been reduced.
She doesn't seem to be aggressive; I walked within about four feet of the cubs with no response.

Haha. I had to do a double take on that one as I read it that the fox was coming out of Fitness First! She probably would need it after scoffing all that junk food.

David, I did the same as Madeline, mistook the first line to mean the foxes were coming out of Fitness First. My first thoughts - probably working off all the discarded Maccy D's they get to make their way through!! Thanks for the heads-up. I think I'll contact Coal Pension Property Ltd to let them know that they have a fox den on their property. Although it's fascinating to see them wandering around the shops, I think they'd have a happier home in Railway Fields!

Saw one of the adults trotting across the car park the other morning with a dead squirrel in its' mouth - I stopped to let it across the road and as it disappeared into the planted area one of the cubs bounded out in a kind of 'yum yum, here's breakfast' way.

Wow, good scavenging by that Fox, or maybe just the case of an effective killing? Having a bit of difficulty finding a way of contacting Coal Pension Property Ltd. Their website lists an unobtainable contact number and the email contact function doesn't work. Anyone know an alternative way of contacting them?
