Harringay online

Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Great progress so far - 182 (see my latest post for updated figures) signatures and ticking up by the hour.

Now, the question is, should we be doing more?

Paul Jenkins, chair of the Wightman Road N4 Residents' Association - to whom we all owe a vote of thanks for spotting the clause in the plan and writing the petition together with Ian Sygrave of the LCSP - suggested yesterday that we might produce a flyer to draw the attention of people who aren't on the site and get their support.

I produced one which is attached via the link beneath the red writing top centre column main page. I wonder if we oughtn't to agree here to get one or two people to volunteer to leaflet their own street . For people without internet access, the leaflet could also act as a written petition to be signed a perhaps posted back through the street leafleter's door. (This might also be good advertising for the site)

If each street has about, what 150 dwellings, that means each street would need a person/persons to print 150 leaflets and distribute them. Even better if we have someone office based with access to a copier who could offer to do a bigger copy run.

We're unlikley to get every street done. I'm happy to volunteer for Hewitt if we can get at least 5 other streets covered.

Am I bonkers? Will you contribute?

If Duckett needs flyers, email me, I'm close by with 300!
I wonder if Maria (Longo) at the Mansions side of Wightman could arrange to email WightmanPaul for some flyers. I understand she needed some help with printing.
I've done Wightman (Duckett jct/Milverton flats down to Hewitt) with flyers. Hope to follow up tomorrow and Sat. with the doorstep signature sheets. From some experience here last year both are needed, with return visits if time allows. Even unpromising looking six-bell houses sometimes bear fruit.
She mailed me and said that she could print some. I'll make sure she's aware of WP's flyers.
I presume I'm doing St. Ann's Rd down as far as Warwick Avenue? I could do Salisbury Road and Harringay Road as well.
Also what do I put on the XX YY address bit at the bottom of the flyer?
The idea is to put a return address where people can drop off any signed paper copies. What I'd thought is that people could put their own address - somewhere relatively close by to where people live and then from there they could come to me. If you're able to drop them off to me, let me know and I'll give you m address. Otherwise you can send me a private message wioth yours in and I'll come and pick them up.

If you can do Salisbury down to Warwick & Harringay as well, that would be great.

Thanks Rogan.
I live in a second floor flat - so people will have to get through the bottom stairwell door before they get to my post box - not very practical. Is there somebody else who doesn't mind receiving them near St. Ann's Rd?

Rogan
I've asked someone on Salisbury. Will let you know what they say.
thanks Hugh
I haven't heard back Rogan - if we don't two choices:
1. Ask the Salisbury if they'd take them?
2. Scrub the sign & return option and at least we get the connected element of the population.

What do you think?
I live on Salisbury Road and already leaflet Salisbury and St Ann's roads regularly for NHS, sustainable Haringey and Ward's corner stuff.
You can drop any leaflets through my door at 50A Salisbury Road.
I will try to do flyer Effingham Road tomorrow morning. But can you just tell me (and apologies if I've missed this):

a. What is the deadline for (i) the online petition and (ii) signed petitions to be handed in? Is it still midnight 22nd June?

b. What do we do with all the signed petitions we get back?

Also, I've adapted the form so that people have to include their address. Is that not something that should have been on all forms and the online petition? Otherwise isn't there a risk the council will not be able to verify the fact the signatures are genuine?
