Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Has anyone had occasion to use a plumber for leaking lead piping? Our stopcock, set into the concreted hallway, is leaking. We have another in the front garden so we could just get rid of this one. However, my plumber won't touch it as he has no experience with lead pipe.

I would like to avoid digging up the concrete to change the whole length of pipe if possible as I'd have to dig up the concrete all the way to the stopcock in the front garden as well.

Any ideas welcome.

Jenny

Any competent plumber should be able to deal with lead.

Ah. Good to know. Thanks.

There don't seem to be a lot of competent plumbers around then.

However, I have found someone now from ratedpeople.co.uk.

Ok, I give in. I'm not looking in the right places. :-)

If your 'rated people' plumber doesn't work out, take a look at the threads linked by the tag I added under your post. There are a few very popular trusted plumbers regularly used locally.

Thanks Hugh for the helpful comment. I appreciate it.

The problem is that knowing nothing about these things, if one plumber says it's specialist and then another (probably his friend) does too, What should I believe? That they're incompetent or that only a plumber who knows about lead under concrete will be able to do the job? As I said, I was obviously looking in the wrong places.

I'm only a DIY person but I've joined lead pipe to copper before now.

I bet any plumber with a name ending in "- ski " could do it.

The plumbers who wouldn't had names ending in "-ski".
