Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Evening all,

My girlfriend and I are moving to the ladder next week after 3 years in west London. It wasn't really somewhere that we had considered, however we seen a flat much cheaper than our current one and around the same size, so a no brainier really.

What I really wanted some info on was decent pubs and restaurants in the area. I know that Finsbury park, Stroud green, crouch end etc have a mixture of good pubs but I am unsure about harringey/ green lanes. Any recommendations are appreciated.

Cheers in advance.

I would also recommend the Jai Shri Krishna and Penang Satay House on Turnpike Lane, and the Antepliler (the restaurant one of the three there) and The Village on Green Lanes.

Pubs wise, there is also The Tollgate on Turnpike Lane if you like real ale and cheap prices (although you have to pick the right time, depending on how busy and lairy an atmosphere you want !);  The Old Ale Emporium on Green Lanes (again, pick your time);  and The Great Northern and The Compasses, a little further away on High Street, Hornsey.
