Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

"Seven Sisters Community" is a new blog covering Tottenham and surronding areas of London. I have posted this on Harringay Online as a significant number of this site's members live and work in Tottenham.

The blog has been launched at the moment 'in beta', but it will be polished up shortly with a new header and some more stuff to be added. As the very first post says: "Hello World. It's been a long time coming".

Good luck to you both. I think it would be great to have a thriving 7Sis/SoTo site.

A supplementary for you Neville:

Neville, you stood as a candidate in the 2010 local elections. Will your blog be used to promote your own or any party's 2014 election campaigns?

Hi Hugh, you're right, maybe I should've been open about my political affiliation! However, I won't be using the blog to promote myself personally or the Lib Dems in Haringey.

To be honest, I haven't thought that far ahead. It's taken me three months of planning (!) to get to this stage... and it still needs to be tweaked.

I only ask Neville, because in my work I've seen too many councillor blogs or manifestly political ones that masquerade as community websites. Both types of site have their place but I'm all for clarity on this.

a clever little trick

I almost registered myself as the next soul

I'm sure it's not intended as a trick, Marek. Neville seemed like decent cove.

OK he finally admitted his intentions

Though I don't have any intention to run for any office, I can't pretend I don't have all kinds of political biases. I'd like the SoTo site to reflect a lot of opinions but there are limits....   Hopefully it will evolve, this is just a starter. I'd like to get more people on board as my web skills are so limited.

Pam I was in a meeting at 639b today, where, amongst other things, a few folk were talking about setting up a Tottenham site, probably using Ning. Philip from Wildes Cheese seems to be the go to guy for that one.

I'll contact him but that's a bit north-end ish. There's space for a NoTo blog. Maybe Selby Centre based?

Yeah, probably a different entity, but I wondered if there was an opportunity for collaboration.

Hi Neville how do we sign up for is this new site? Or is it annexed to HOL?

@VIX and others

Some of you have had some difficulty on signing up to the blog. I wanted it to be members only to prevent the spread of spamming, and the fact that many people tend to want to post online anonymously.

If you want to sign up, look at the bottom right of the sidebar where you can find the word "register". Click on it and follow the instructions. If you want to just follow the blog, just fill your email address where you will be notified of regular updates.

If you have any problems, email at sevensisterscommunity@armchairnews.co.uk . I apologise in advance that I cannot deal with technical issues!!!
