Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Despite my views of both Gove and free schools I was wondering what support there'd be for a free school in Harringay?

Primary school doesn't seem to be such an issue (apart from oversubscription).

What are people's views of secondary schools?

Is there a group of parents that would like to look into this?

If anyone is interested in setting up a free school for their children then please add me as a connection and direct message me...

A C Greyling is apparently trying to set one up in north London... Does anyone know more about this or where it's going to be?

Apparently it'll be in Camden...

that is: a small classes, private school for the usual priviledged people; how about resources for smaller classes in the public education sector where they're desperately needed. How about a return to something aka education inste3ad of the present Govwe-run hoop-jumping courses

Where are you going to put it in Harringay? Do you realise how much it would cost you to buy out enough people to demolish their houses? A 2 bed flat in West Hampstead (lots of schools) is £730K, a 5 bed house in Islington is £730K...

So mathematically it is impossible for you to use existing houses for this unless you retain them as houses. Their value will increase significantly, basically by the cost of privately educating two children.

I'm completely with you but I just don't see where.

If Argos goes bust ...

We could demolish one of the churches...

Here's up for redevelopment isn't it?

Flats.

Yes, that's a good point Ant.

But it's probably too late anyway, isn't the consultation nearly over? I don't know too much about it, do you?

But like I said, there needs to be a demand locally and setting up a free school wouldn't happen over night...So I'm guessing that ship's probably sailed.
I understand your point John...

But that was kind of the idea of my post, 5000 heads are better than 1... I wasn't thinking of demolishing houses!

It doesn't have to be a huge school...

Anyway, I wanted to start by asking if there's a need and support for a free school first.

But Bethany all secondary schools in the immediate area are currently free

In the Coliseum ?

Good call! No outside space but I don't see that as being a problem really, 0.4 miles from Chestnuts. If they were creative with breaks etc they could even guarantee the children a 14 minute walk each day.
