Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

In case anyone's curious, here's what the inside of one Grand Parade Studio flat looks like:

The property is currently up for rent. More pics on Zoopla.

£975pcm? For a guest bed?

Are the cooking facilities made up of two microwaves? I can see now why the restaurants are doing so well on Green Lanes.

Isn't one of them a tiny grill, just enough to heat up a cheese toasty?  Beans on toast for tea again. And again.

You are right. Quail would be good choice for the menu.

Least you'd expect is a decent hob, hob - and a sofabed instead of that contraption.

Boom boom !!!!  I like it.

And no bath! What a bargain!

So, thats $235 a week, times 6 for the SIX WEEK deposit, plus a months rent. Now add on the £250 'contract fee' and perhaps another £100 - 150 for a credit check you can get done online for 8 quid. In all, nearly £3000 to move into as John says, a guest room and you get an idea why I had to move out of the area.

The cooking facilities will usually consist of a microewave, with (if you are lucky) two rings on top.

The bathroom is handy for Norovirus sufferers, you could comfortably crap, vomit and have a shower all at the same time!

Boom, boom !!!! I like it.

I find it a bit sad people feel the need to poke fun at this. As studios go, it's not all that bad and probably at least includes bills and council tax.

You're looking at well over a grand a month for a terrible one bed flat on the ladder and sometimes this is all people can afford. Go much further out of London and it's not that much cheaper and you've got the increased travel costs.

It's hardly a renter's market out there at the moment, meanwhile unscrupulous landlords are raking it in whilst mortgage interest rates are incredibly low. Some of them even renting to the council because all the council flats have been sold off.

I speak as someone (like others) on here who has been priced out of the area I love and find this quite depressing. It's OK for those of you who have nice big ladder houses or conversions bought before the boom. Or maybe I'm humourless and you all understand this and this is your way of dealing with the situation. I appreciate it's hard to gauge tone on internet forums.

I am just stunned that you can get a grand a month for a big room and a bathroom. It seems outrageous.
