Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

If anyone has a spare copy of Microsoft office, including Word, Excel etc I'd be very grateful!

Will exchange for a bottle of homemade apple and prune sherry.

Two suggestions - if you or anyone you know is 'in education' you can get a student / teacher version really cheaply, I think I paid £20 for mine. It has to be ordered using a school email IIRC.  Otherwise, Open Office is open source free software that works like MS Office and can read and write to MS files. Download at www.openoffice.org . The only difference is that you need to save files in the MS format in the drop-down Save As menu eg .doc for Word, if you want MS software to be able to read the OpenOffice file.

Can I back up Pamish/Pete's recommendation -  both Google Docs (i think its called Google Drive now) and Open Office are excellent.

Both are free and will work absolutely fine with most formats that you can throw at them.

I use Google Drive as I find it a bit simpler and fulfills  the basic stuff I need for word processing or the odd spread sheet. Added to which its all "cloud based" so you can access your docs remotely from anywhere.

If you want to get into more serious stuff Open Office is the way forward. Open Source and so will always be free for updates etc.

Intrigued by the homemade Apple and Prune Sherry. Are you selling bottles?

*Ahem* yes I think I can sell you an empty glass bottle for £4, which may or may not have some free apple and prune sherry inside. Yeah, that'll get round the licencing laws...

Excellent, I've been looking for an *ahem* empty bottle. Hard to track down these days. Obviously, contents of said bottle will be appreciated too.

I'll send you a connection request.

Really appreciate all these responses. I'm freelancing and occasionally need to create Word docs for reports etc. I'll try a few of the proposed solutions see which suits, thanks!

Please contact me, I have a few different version of MS Office and we could always find something suitable for you.

Why bother with Microsoft Office?

You can download Open Office.  It was suggested to me by a Freecycler.  It's BRILLIANT!  It's got word processing, spreadsheets etc.

It's a non-profit thing.  I can really recommend it.
