Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hello

My laptop seems to be running incredibly slow and I'm convinced that a good clean up of any bugs/viruses will get it back to normal running speed. Can anyone do this at a good rate?

Thank you

Lisa

There area few places. Try the tag I added under your post. Marek lives on Wightman and seem to get good reviews.

Hi Lisa

I could look at your laptop at your earliest convenience and tell you what need to be done to make your machine working as a brand new one.

Please give me a call and we could deal with your machine even today.

My contact number is 0790 460 7745

A lot more efficient is usually to ditch Windows and install a better operating system that will not do that overtime ... I'd recomment Ubuntu. And you can do it yourself! (I could help too if this is a choice)

Yes Ana, Linux is a good and stable system for a bit more literate computer users, but if Lisa is a average user she will struggle with many functions in very close future. Linux is for power-users not for average.

Me too. Not so many years and indeed at the beginning it was very frustrating. Until Ubuntu made it really easy.

I'm not sure about the 2% either.

Every one I show it to, they don't want to come back - except for programs that are only available for Windows.

Hi Ana

I have a question about Linux users.

Have you ever been successful with your persuasion for Linux with a long term happy Windows or Mac user?

I prefer FreeBSD to Linux, and fortunately for me MacOS is FreeBSD with a nice GUI.

Jeez it's geeky on here tonight!

People who approach me (like Lisa, here) are not happy users - that's why they turn tu us in the first place!

And yes over the years I have persuaded a few to have dual-boot. Which is how I started too.

Mac users tend to be happier than windows users.

Hi Ana

I finished the job with this slowing laptop and after more than hour cleaning the user knows how to deal with issues in future and how to manage her Operating System much better in future.

Generally, there were too many software in start-up installed thanks to free software installations

Unhappy Windows users usually don't have any closer support with their machines and struggle with their slowing down computers.

GEEK alert!

I'm a happy m'Accuser of 23 years standing (OS X, Tiger and Leopard) and have too many of these superb machines. It's the engineering on the inside - both hardware and software - that is so admirable.

Anyway, I have acquired no fewer than three Linux distributions (below), all for PowerPC-chipped Max and none of which I have had the courage to install:

  1. Mandrake LINUX 91. for Mac & PPC
  2. SuSE 7.3 for Mac/PPC
  3. Yellow Dog Linux 2.3 (Macintosh PPC)

Does any knowledgeable Linux user have any comment on any one of these?

I remain curious and might be willing to risk installing on an older, spare PPC machine.

Hi Jess. You are an excellent exception and enjoy but percentage of Linux users is about 2% of whole number of computer users.

Hi Lisa

Did you finally find the solution for your computer issues?
