Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

KTM Motorbike Stolen 2am Frriday 19th October from Umfreville Road

At 1.50am this morning, I awoke to the sound of my motorcycle alarm going off, and then heard it disappear up the round (alarm still going) in the back of a van/truck.  Didn't quite make it to the window quick enough to catch sight of it though.  Any information on the theft or if you see a large black motorcycle with the oragnge letters KTM on each side of the tank, then please get in touch.

Sorry to hear about this Antoinette. How very annoying. I do hope someone can help.

Oh no, that's terrible Antoinette - how will you get to work?

Oh no :-( Bad luck.......  Any news?

Thanks for the sympathy everyone, but no news yet. It's just so blinking irritating. How I hate insurance claims!  I always park in the front garden and the one night I don't it's gone.  There's no room for even one night of complacency!  I have to say, though, that the boys in blue were wonderful.  They were on my doorstep before I'd even had a chance to get dressed.

did you get any sight at all of the van? did you notice anything suspicious prior to theft? my two ktms were stolen between 1pm on 11th and 10am on the 12th this month from warham road, i had noticed a black golf with blacked out windows pass my house that morning, then stop and reverse back several car lengths to look at one of my bikes that was in the front yard, then drive off again, i thought it was extremely suspicious at the time but stupidly even though i suspected it was a thief eye-ing up something he wanted, i was complacent and believed my bikes were well protected with heavy duty security locks, chains and a very loud and sensitive alarm disc lock, all locked behind a side door at night so i didn't even make a not of the golf's reg number. next morning both my treasured supermotos were gone, am sure that is no coincidence!

Just posted on your forum post too.  Clearly they knew what they were after and went equipped.  It's not a matter of being complacent - you never stood a chance.  In fact, I have to say the fact that yours were so well-protected and still got nicked anyway has cheered me up a little.  I had stupidly left mine on the street that night because someone had parked over the gate and I couldn't get it in the front garden where I would normally have parked it.   I think it's time to go shopping for a new one - the new 990 Adventure looks like a lot of fun, and you get a fiver's change from 10 grand (ouch).  http://www.ktmcentre.co.uk/990-adventure-abs-special-edition-clon/

haha good for you if you can afford one of them! i'll be looking for an ebay bargain, another smc, hopefully an 03/04 660, i had your shopping budget i'd have a look at a ducati hypermotard thingy!

the hypermotard is a lot of fun, but for complete bonkers it has to be the 690 Super Duke.  Anyway, I'm still in the market for a new ride since my Street Triple got nicked in September.  There's a lot of us around the ladder.  I'm going to take a look at getting a garage.  We could rent one together and turn it into fort knox surrounded by ninjas.

the 690 is actually only a 660 (look at the bore and stroke) but much much heavier than my 660 was, well over 150kg compared to my smc's 130kg wet! would be no match for my 660 with full ti akrapovic and modded airbox. oh well, now the bastards took it i guess i won't get to show you how bonkers that was. had the original 900 monster a few years back, the first one with 900ss heads and full power, that was surpisingly fast but heavier than i expected, not much fun round town though compared to the lc4. lovely on a roads though. as for renting a garage, they would break in and take the lot, i think cctv, alarms and trackers is the way to go, and an ak47 at the upstairs window. they are just lucky it was the once in a blue moon that i wasn't home at night or i'd have been out there at the first beep from my alarm with my wood axe!

Did not know that.  Might give one a test ride.

Wire a bike in the front yard up to the mains.  That'd give them a surprise :)

nice, like that idea!

Now, now, boys!  They are only bikes (did I really say that?!?!?)  I found the KTM a bit too bonkers - I wish my budget did stretch to £10K but back in the sensible world I'm considering either a BMW F650 GS (the single cylinder thumper that pre-dated the F800) or a Yamamha XT660......
