Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!
Pigeons on Duckett Road
There are a lot of pigeons living in an empty building on Duckett Mews (at the Green Lanes end of Duckett Road).
My neighbour regularly puts food out for them in his front garden (which is quite annoying, but not something I can stop).
Does anyone know of any methods for preventing them coming into my front garden? The mess they leave behind is horrible and it's not pleasant to walk out of the front door into a flurry of pigeons.

Hi David,
We have up to a hundred living on the roofs at the Green Lanes end of Seymour Rd. They are disgusting - even had one in our house!
We also have a hand full of neighbours who enjoy feeding them! It is illegal to feed them.
I have contacted John Forde from the council - see e-mail below. He says he will put some signs up about feeding them and will put leaflets through peoples doors. This was said some weeks ago though and nothing has been done yet!

Maybe if more people e-mail he will start to do something about them in the area.

Hi Matt,
We are also on Seymour road and am also being driven mad by the pigeons / people feeding them. I will email John Forde and see if we can build up some momentum.

Good work - he always says that he will do things but nothing seems to happen! Are you near the Green Lanes end like us? They really bring the street down : (

Matt we are at the Green Lanes end and yes it does bring the street down. Just returned from work to see that a leaflet has been posted through the door so lets see if that has an effect!

Leaflets have been posted to Duckett Road. If I see the usual pile of bread in my neighbours' front garden tomorrow I'll take mine round and double flyer him.

Please don't laugh, but I heard that brightly coloured cellophane on a stick frightens them (or CD's). I have seen someone use that method around my office but never knocked on their door to ask them if it worked.
Bird spikes or concrete owl. I don't like them much either...

Middle classes should know better but of course you can't expect civilised behaviour from the working class ?

Or perhaps a stinging attack on the bourgeoisie's refusal to be community-minded and forgo their child's joy in order to prevent the spread of rats, safe in the knowledge that they can afford all the Rentokil visits they'll ever need and that rats will in any case be more attracted to poorly maintained and more crowded (i.e. cheaper) accommodation?
Sadly, I am not friends with Stewart Lee (although I did once see him in the Costcutter at Manor House), so cannot ask.
