Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Hi,

Dose anyone know why The Elmhurst Pub on Lordship lane has closed. I used to go in for the odd quiet pint, but see the doors are now closed. I hope it's not another casualty of the trend of pubs going out of business.

Thanks,

Rob

I noticed that too. It wouldn't surprise me if it did close down, it's so seldom busy which is a real shame for what could be a lovely pub (not to mention extremely convenient for me).

However, I had a quick look at the notice in the door and it seemed to suggest it was a notice of an application for a licence. It said that this was just a standard procedure when a pub closes down and is re-opened. So I think basically it went under, has been bought by another chain and is being done up to be reopened. I really hope that's the case and that they manage to make something of it.

I'll very happily do what I can to make it a success (by which I mean handing over my cash in exchange for beer), especially if they put some bitters on. How about from Tottenham's own Redemption Brewery?

Hi Asher,

It's re-opening! I drove by yesterday and there's a sign on the door saying so, and has a facebook page http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Elmhurst-N17/220223908103656

Seems to be calling itself a Concert Venue!

I agree it was always quiet on non match days but OK for a few pints. I stopped going in since about christmas time as the crowd changed with the new owner so hopefully it'll be a good crowd back in it. Says it opens tomorrow, so I'll check it out at the weekend. It's good to see it's staying open anyhow! Indeed, would be very good to the redemption brewery on tap there, will see...

Cheers.
