Temporary planning law changes to double size of extensions allowed under "permitted development"

Interesting stories in papers today about how planning laws are going to be changed to double the size of extension allowed without planning permission. With all the refurbishment posts here on HoL i expect this is probably going to be good for people thinking about doing a rear extension, but i wonder what it would be like if both your neighbours put up 6 metre rear extensions down each side of your garden.

I am sure all the slum landlords are very happy.  'Excellent - we'll get another 5 families in out the back - no need for an architect, lets just use some left over chipboard and concrete. Why go to the expense of CORGI registered gas fitter...?'
