Harringay now has two Islamic schools, both run by Safar Academy.
The first branch of Safar Academy started up at Wightman Road in 1998. The Academy now has nearly 300 students
Weekend classes have now also started at North Harringay School.
The organisation explains it's mission as follows:
"Through the Safar programme, students learn to discover and evaluate the world around them from a Muslim perspective and by means of a broad curriculum, they will be encouraged to use and develop their gifts in a God-conscious way.
"The objective is to provide a high quality Muslim education which will bring the best out of the youth and enable them to have confidence in the Muslim faith and to apply its principles to their lives."

Is one of those on St Anne's road opposite the church? I always wondered what that building was, it's got lots of faith slogans written on it and an islamic womens clothing shop. Always makes me laugh that it's clearly an old christian ecclesiastical building taken over by another faith! seems rather symbolic of London's multicultural nature to me.
